Order to Show Cause Publication
An Order to Show Cause (OSC) is a court order requiring a party to appear and explain why a particular action should not be taken. In several proceedings — adult name changes, guardianship, conservatorship — the OSC must be published so interested persons can object. The Hemet & San Jacinto Chronicle is adjudicated to publish OSC notices for the Superior Court of Riverside County.
When an OSC Must Be Published
- Name change petitions — CCP §1277, 4 consecutive weekly publications
- Guardianship of a minor — Probate Code §1511
